Clear your mind of clutter

It has been proven that we spend more of our time thinking about trivial things in life than we spend thinking about important things. Often, we can allow little things to build up and eat away at us over time, when, really, there is no reason for them to do so.

It is important that we learn to unwind from our thoughts, to ensure that we do not let the little things take over our lives. To do this, we should put aside specific times during the day in which to do this. Ideally, we would have three sessions; one in the morning, one in the afternoon and then one in the evening before you get to bed. The ideal way to unwind before you sleep is to have a bath an practice deep breathing exercises. If you do not have a bath in your home, then a shower can have relaxation benefits too and allow you to unwind.

As for the sessions in the morning and the afternoon, these can often be a little harder to find the time to do. It doesn’t have to be a long session. Simply five minutes put aside to sit quietly and breathe deeply may be very helpful for you in the long term. You can do anything from listening to classical music to just sitting in silence.

On the odd occasion, you might like to use your afternoon or morning session to exercise. This is excellent for our mood, and allows us to concentrate on doing something productive (the exercise) rather than thinking about the things that might be troubling us at the time.
No matter what you choose to do, it is important that you set aside this time for yourself. Nobody is more important than you, so it is important that you take care of yourself whenever you can.
