Seahorse is not a horse, but a fish

Extremely strange, tiny and enigmatic fishes, Seahorses have no scales like fish but have an upright horse-like structure. They have a distinct neck and a movable head shape, like the figure of a knight in chess. They have a small toothless mouth at the end of their tubular snout. Before grinding them into powder for preparing traditional medicines, these peculiar upright fish grace bathroom tiles, jewellery, beach towels, cartoons etc.
Seahorses range in size from 2.5-35 cm. They swim upright propelled by a waving of the back fin that can beat 20-35 times per second. To avoid being eaten, they hide from the enemy by relying on their pre-hensile tails. Seahorses have the ability to change colors. Very interesting fact about seahorses is they do not have teeth and stomach. Food passes through the digestive system so quickly and they must eat constantly to stay alive.
One of the oldest things about seahorses is the way they bring up their young. The males get pregnant as the female passes her eggs into a pouch on the belly of the male. He then carries about the eggs with him until they hatch. The Seahorses are monogamous (one male or one female only) and they mate for life.
